About

Adam Cooke is a Ruby on Rails web developer from Dorset, England. He is the Managing Director at web design & development company, aTech Media which was setup, by him, a month after leaving school. Adam works with Adam. Obviously, not with himself, because that would be silly and boring - another Adam - the technical directory at the same company.

Adam's specialities are working with Ruby on Rails to develop flexible, DRY, efficient and easy to use web applications for clients, the company and himself. As well as applications, he has released a few Rails plugins (which can be found in the SVN repo). Other areas of expertise include PHP (although has mostly been superceeded by Rails!), managing Gentoo & Ubuntu servers as well as being a Photoshop enthusiast.

Adam, along with Josh Catone & Vinnie Garcia, is currently heavily involved with the Railsify project which includes Rails Forum and Railsify (a RoR plugin directory).

Behind the site...

The site was designed using Photoshop. It was coded with Rails and uses the Mysql database engine. It is hosted on Ubuntu with Apache and Mongrel. All code is versioned using Svn and stock images are from the talented people at Istock. The PlasticRain and SVN repository is hosted with Slicehost and the repo browsers are Wh and Trac.

Hosting PlasticRain

Cluster

The main PlasitcRain website and subversion repository is hosted on a 256MB slice at Slicehost.

I tend to register domains with 4Dreg or GoDaddy. I would recommend either.
